Ukrainian troops encircled by Lugansk self-defense fighters in Izvaryno

The self-defense fighters in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) have encircled the Ukrainian government forces near the border checkpoint in Izvaryno, with the Ukrainian army sustaining tangible losses, Interfax reports with reference to the Novorossiya agency.

“Militiamen fired grenade launchers against Ukrainian special forces from Kirovohrad at the Izvaryne border checkpoint in the Lugansk region. A source said eight soldiers were killed and around ten injured. The Ukrainian side also reported having been encircled in Izvaryno, the punitive forces’ self-propelled artillery launcher has been knocked down,” the statement said.

Meantime, “in the Sverdlovsk district of the Lugansk region, militiamen fired artillery and mortars against Ukrainian troops from the 72nd brigade. There is no data on army losses,” the agency also reported.

A spokesperson for LPR told reporters that militiamen pushed the Ukrainian troops back from the city of Krasnodon which is close to the Izvaryno border checkpoint.

Meanwhile, the National Security and Defense Council spokesman, Andrey Lysenko said during a briefing on Wednesday that active fighting continues in the east of the country but Ukrainian troops retain control over the populated area they seized earlier.

He confirmed that at the moment the most fierce fighting is taking place in the Izvaryno area, as well as in Amvrosiyevka and Marynovka.

Ukrainian Army Received 2,000 bulletprooff vest from the United States

As of early July, Ukraine has received from the US 2,000 Interceptor bulletproof vests, whose labels show their excellent bulletproof qualities, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press office of the Kiev Junta said on Wednesday.

“Taking into account that production capacities of relevant Ukrainian enterprises do not meet relevant demands of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in regard to domestically produced bulletproof vests, subdivisions are provided with personal protection means, including with the help of foreign partners,” (aka U.S.) the press office said.

At the same time, according to the tests to access ballistic resistance of the US-made Interceptor bulletproof vest, the sample provided has shown great bulletproof qualities against both 7.62 rounds and smaller calibers as well. Ukrainian mass media outlets reported earlier that the quality of the bulletproof vests supplied by the US to Ukraine was unsatisfactory.
