UNITED NATIONS, September 28 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov delivered a speech during the 69th session of the UN General Assembly on September 27, touching upon such issues as US unilateral use of military power, the West’s unwillingness to cooperate with Russia, the situation in Ukraine and delays in Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight investigation, and access to the data on chemical weapons in Libya, among other things.

“Washington has openly declared its right to use military force unilaterally and wherever it sees fit in order to protect its own interests,” said Lavrov, talking about the policy of the United States. “Western alliance, led by the United States, while defending democracy and human rights, on the global arena assumes an opposite stance, disregarding the principle of the sovereign equality of states, as stipulated in the UN Charter, and trying to decide for others what is good and what is bad.”

The minister also added that it was becoming more apparent that there is a contradiction between the desire of certain countries to dominate and the need of collaborative efforts in the face of common challenges.

He said that the recent US-led military involvement in countries like Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan ended in an unfortunate way for Washington, adding that the goal of operations, aimed at political regime change, is reminiscent of attempts to provoke instability in the world.

Lavrov also noted the evasiveness of Western countries when it came to cooperating with Russia on the establishment of security in certain regions.

“Western partners have ignored our numerous warnings, concerning the inadmissibility of breaking the UN Charter and Helsinki Final Act principles, consistently evaded proper collaboration on creating a zone of equal and undivided security and cooperation in the area from the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans,” he said, pointing out the inability of NATO members to alter their “genetic code” which remained unchanged from the times of the Cold War.

The Russian foreign minister went on to suggest the adoption of a declaration that would stipulate the principle of non-recognition of a coup as a means of changing regime in a country and inadmissibility of meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

“The United States and the European Union supported the coup in Ukraine, blindly approved any actions taken by the self-proclaimed Kiev authorities that directed their efforts at violently suppressing the part of the Ukrainian people that rejected the attempts to impose on the country anti-constitutional order and wanted to defend its right to native language, culture and history,” Lavrov said.

The minister emphasized that Russia eagerly supported the restoration of peace in Ukraine, and believed that the resolution to the Ukrainian crisis was attainable.

As for the Malaysian aircraft, the diplomat noted that the thorough investigation into the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in eastern Ukraine was experiencing delays, which contradicted the UN Security Council Resolution 2166.

On the subject of Libya, Lavrov said that Russia wanted to see the information concerning the state of chemical weapons in Libya, as the issue of uncontrolled Libyan chemical arsenal was extremely serious, whatever feelings NATO might have about it.

The General Assembly is the main deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations. The 69th session opened on September 16, 2014.

Alleged Oklahoma City Beheader Alton Nolan Linked To Pentagon Diner Al-Awlaki

nolan-400x206Alton Nolan, the man accused of beheading a coworker in Oklahoma City, attended a mosque run by an iman tied to Anwar al-Awlaki, the al-Qaeda operative who dined at the Pentagon a few months after the 9/11 attacks.

Suhaib Webb presided over the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, a mosque attended by Nolan, and currently serves as the iman of a sister organization in Boston, according to Breitbart. The Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is connected to the alleged Boston Marathon bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Zubeidat K. Tsarnaeva, the mother of Dzhokar and Tamerlan, said last April her eldest son Tamerlan was under the control of the FBI. “How could this happen?… They were controlling every step of him, and they are telling today that this is a terrorist attack,” she said. In addition to the FBI, the CIA was apparently also monitoring Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The FBI is notorious for recruiting and framing terror patsies. A report compiled by Mother Jones and the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California-Berkley found that of the 158 prosecutions carried out on terrorism charges since 9/11, 49 defendants participated in plots that were arranged by FBI agent provocateurs. “They’re creating crimes to solve crimes so they can claim a victory in the war on terror,” explained Martin Stolar, a lawyer who represented a suspect involved in a New York City bombing plot contrived by FBI agents.

FBI documents state “Webb and Awlaki may be associated with the Muslim American Society,” an organization reportedly “founded as the United States Chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood,” according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism.

The Muslim Brotherhood has served as an intelligence asset for nearly a century. According to former British intelligence agent John Coleman, the organization as created by the British to “keep the Middle East backward so that its natural resource, oil, could continue to be looted.” The organization was also used by the CIA to fight against Egyptian leader and Arab nationalist Gamal Nasser and other secular forces.

Currently there is no evidence Alton Nolan was an FBI patsy. However, the suspicious connections of Suhaib Webb and past incidents of terror operations run out of mosques in the United States and Britain warrant more investigation.

On Saturday, the FBI insisted there are no connections to Nolan and terrorists. “A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told the AP that while there was indication that Nolan was a Muslim convert and was trying to convert others to Islam, there is so far no connection to terrorism and no evidence of any worrisome travel,” the Associated Press reports.

Despite caution by the FBI and the government, the incident is certainly feeding into the propaganda effort directed against Muslims as the United States escalates its war against ISIS, a war predicted to last indefinitely.

Is The Times already collecting ammunition for Obama’s “regime change” in Russia?

The Times:

Articles in this series are examining how President Vladimir V. Putin’s system of personalized state-sponsored capitalism allows him to wield power at home and abroad.

According to The Times, weeks after President Vladimir V. Putin annexed Crimea in March, an obscure regulatory board in Moscow known as the Market Council convened inside an office tower not far from the Kremlin to discuss the country’s wholesale electricity market. It is a colossal business, worth 2 percent of Russia’s gross domestic product, and a rich source of fees for the bank that had long held the exclusive right to service it.

Times: “With no advance notice or public debate, though, the board voted that day in April to shift that business to Bank Rossiya, a smaller institution that lacked the ability to immediately absorb the work. For Bank Rossiya, it was a tidy coup set to yield an estimated $100 million or more in annual commissions, yet it was hardly the only new business coming in. State corporations, local governments and even the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea were suddenly shifting their accounts to the bank, too.”

And it goes on… “The reason the Kremlin rushed to prop up Bank Rossiya is the same reason that the United States, and later its European allies, placed it on the sanctions list: its privileged status as what the Obama administration calls the “personal bank” of the Putin inner circle. Built and run by some of the president’s closest friends and colleagues from his early days in St. Petersburg, Bank Rossiya is emblematic of the way Mr. Putin’s brand of crony capitalism has turned loyalists into billionaires whose influence over strategic sectors of the economy has in turn helped him maintain his iron-fisted grip on power.”

You can read the entire article in The Times.

My ten cents worth:

And… how is this any different from the trillions (with a T) handed out by the Bush and Obama administrations to their “Buds in the Banks” – or as Eric “Resigning-to-spend-more-time-with-my-family” Holder called, the “Too Big to Fail and Too Big to Jail”?

Jamie Dimon – recipient of the “Obama Golden Cufflinks Award” and Sir Lloyd Blankfein – “Of Blessed Memory of Those Who Do God’s Work” all received the bounty and largess of the US Government via the Taxpayer – and did the New York Times vilify them, like they are now obsessed with Putin?

It’s lovely and so convenient to have a Bad Guy we can diss – all the while making sure that the bought-and-paid-for hacks in Government fill the coffers of Private Institutions – knowing full well that when those same political hacks who have helped pillage the US Treasury to benefit the banks are looking for work aprés DC, the revolving door opens – no questions asked.

I’d say it sure pays to be Obama’s/Bush’s/Clinton’s/Pelosi’s/Feinstein’s friends as well.

This comment from Norman Pollack says it all:

Excellent documentation. Yet what does a comparative analysis reveal? That crony capitalism is alive and well in both Russia and the West, and that the latter’s criticisms seem odd because the same ideological framework holds true for America and Russia. We feign the same spirit of anticommunism characteristic of the First Cold War (undeniably, we are now into a Second), when in reality the US is jealous of Russia’s capitalistic success.

Attacks on Putin are sour grapes. What is the bailout of American banks, but crony capitalism? What is the cozy relationship between the Pentagon and the major defense companies, but crony capitalism? It does not require a leader, here, Putin, to define the condition. Crony capitalism can be, and is, in America, SYSTEMIC, with Obama hardly passive in advancing the wide cleavage in US wealth distribution.

No one claims Putin enriches himself through crony capitalism, and in fact, I accept his argument that, not the Russian companies, but geopolitical and geostrategic concerns motivate his policies. Can Obama and the US say the same, when he serves as a shill for US business abroad, esp. in the Far East?

The sanctions-business is amusing: a cover for the more ambitious plan to contain, isolate, and weaken Russia–next, ditto, China–as America desperately strives to return to unilateral preeminence in the global structure. The world is de-centered with Russia and China’s rise; America must learn to share power, or else collapse.

Ten cents worth:

The broader tensions between the populations that “are the biggest cause of conflict, not just in the Middle East, but in the world,” Mr. Obama said …

Since the 1960’s the biggest cause of conflict in the world has been US military aggression. The Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars have done far more damage than tensions between middle eastern populations. Arguably, if the US were not involved militarily in the region, its populations would re-establish the equilibrium that existed before Bush/Cheney.

Failing to learn the lessons of decades of military meddling, President Obama once more leads us to “Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war”. And apparently US administrations are exempt from war crimes prosecutions.

Where are the Times pictures showing how many innocent civilians are being killed by the US and allies bombs?

Obama Says U.S. Underestimated the Rise of ISIS

WASHINGTON — President Obama acknowledges in an interview to be broadcast Sunday night that the United States underestimated the rise of the Islamic State militant group while placing too much trust in the Iraqi military, allowing the region to become “ground zero for jihadists around the world.”

In some of his most candid public remarks on the subject, Mr. Obama says in the interview with the CBS News program “60 Minutes” that it was “absolutely true” that the United States had erred in its assessments of both the Islamic State — also known as ISIS or ISIL — and the Iraqi military.

A political solution there might help ease the broader tensions between the populations that “are the biggest cause of conflict, not just in the Middle East, but in the world,” Mr. Obama said, according to excerpts from the president’s interview with Steve Kroft on the CBS News website.
