Mrs Clinton is trying to cash in on the popularity of Hollywood

MrsClinton is trying to cash in on the popularity of Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney and her own shady ties to big business.  Asked by his “friend” Obama to help fund poor Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Mr Clooney couldn’t refuse.  Democratic rival Bernie Sanders charged Sunday.

Bashing the former secretary of state for charging her supporters a small forturne to rub shoulders with Clooney at fundraisers in California next month, the Senator confirmed:

It is not only this Clooney event, said Sanders who is trailing Clinton for party’s primary nod. It is the fact she has now raised well over $15 millions from Wall Street for her Super PAC, and millions more from the fossil -fuel industry and from the drug companies.

Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooneyare set to join Clinton for an April 15  fund-raising dinner in San Francisco where deep-pocketed donors can score two seats at the table by forking over $353,400 in personal or bundled contributions.

The next night, Mr Clooney and his wife will host another fund-raiser for Mrs Clinton at their home in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles. Tickets are to that event whose co-hosts include Steven Spielberg and his wife cost relatively paltry $33,400 each.

Federal law caps direct contributions to presidential candidates at $5,400 with a maximum of $2,700 each for the primary and general elections.

Sanders contrasted the big bucks events with his own fund-raising efforts, saying he had received 6 millions individual campaign contributions of $27 a donation.

Spoils from the Clooney fund-raisers will be spread among Clinton’s campaign commitee, the Democratic National Committee and 32 state party committees.

Sanders insisted he had no personal issue with George Clooney. But this is the point: This is the problem with American politics, is that big money is dominating our political system.

Last year Clooney praised Mrs Clinton as a “tremendous candidate” and pledged to help her in “whatever way I can”

So, what I think we are trying to do is run a campaign to parafrase Abraham Lincoln, of the people for the people, not just searching for billionaires and the wealthiest people in this country, Sanders said.

Clinton’s rep reported in a statement: “Hillary Clinton has made it a priority to raise money for Democrats up and down the balot, and we are grateful to the Clooneys for helping us support the party with the event.
