Flaming Side of the Moon

In 2009, the Flaming Lips teamed up with a bunch of other musicians to release their full-length cover of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. As it turns out, the Lips aren’t done with that album. They’re releasing a companion LP—intended to be played at the same time as Pink Floyd’s original—called Flaming Side of the Moon.

The press release also notes that it’s been “carefully crafted to sync up perfectly with the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz“. (Which, if you hadn’t heard, is a thing.) They also encourage listeners to pair Flaming Side with the original Alan Parsons engineered quadrophonic mix of Dark Side.

It’s “available now through all participating digital outlets,” and a limited pressing of 100 will be distributed on vinyl to the band’s friends and family.
